About Mosquito

Mosquitoes (family Culicidae) are the world's deadliest animals, responsible for over one million deaths annually through transmission of malaria, dengue, Zika, West Nile virus, and yellow fever. Only females blood-feed, requiring a protein meal to develop eggs; males drink nectar exclusively. They detect hosts via carbon dioxide plumes, body heat, and skin volatiles from up to 50 meters away. Larvae develop in standing water — from ornamental ponds to discarded bottle caps — making source reduction (eliminating standing water) the single most effective control measure.
