About Northern Grasshopper Mouse

Northern Grasshopper Mouse is a rodent species occupying a range of habitats across its native territory, where it plays an ecological role as herbivore, seed disperser, and prey item for raptors, canids, and mustelids. Like all rodents it possesses continuously-growing incisors adapted for gnawing plant material, seeds, and in many cases fungi or invertebrates. In areas where its range overlaps with human settlement it may enter structures in search of food and warmth during colder months. Management focuses on habitat modification, entry-point exclusion, and trapping where the species causes damage or poses a health concern.

Geographic Distribution

This rodent is found across Africa, with notable populations in Egypt and surrounding regions.
